This Old European Cut diamond was reclaimed from an antique piece of jewelry, and was most likely fashioned into a cut stone 100-150 years ago.
Before the advent of modern gem-cutting technology, diamonds were cut by hand, often at the site of the mine and under low-light conditions like gaslight or candlelight.
The resulting faceting pattern creates a twinkling pattern of refractions and reflections throughout the stone, charmingly irregular proportions, and unique sparkle. This stone is nearly colorless and features a high degree of clarity. It would look beautiful in any number of classic or contemporary setting styles.
